Notalis 3 takes the tag editor from single files to whole libraries. It introduces Autopilot and Delivery Check, identifies complete releases and libraries against the Arctisoft Catalogue, and runs saved jobs on a schedule.
Highlights
- Autopilot: identification, metadata repair, artwork, lyrics and duplicate review in one run.
- Auto Tag on the Arctisoft Catalogue, for single tracks, whole releases and complete libraries.
- Delivery Check for metadata, artwork, formats, release consistency and loudness.
- Studio Automation with saved jobs, Windows Task Scheduler schedules, watch folders and a command-line runner.
- A refined editing workspace with clearer navigation, review and progress.
Autopilot and library care
Autopilot takes a folder or the checked files through identification, metadata repair, artwork, lyrics and duplicate review in one run. It preserves existing values where possible, applies eligible changes with Premium, and leaves uncertain identities or conflicting values for review. Basic builds the plan without applying it.
- Repair defective titles and inconsistent numbering without replacing valid personal metadata unnecessarily.
- Reuse an album's existing embedded artwork or folder cover before requesting an online cover.
- Detect duplicate recordings locally by audio fingerprint and move eligible weaker copies to quarantine rather than deleting them.
- Take artwork, lyrics, cue sheets and other companion files along when organizing albums.
- Review a completion summary showing changes, unresolved files and missing results. Saved originals support workflow undo while the backups are retained.
Clean & Organize can now apply otherwise eligible changes when optional lyrics or artwork are unavailable. Missing additions are reported separately from conflicts that require review.
Auto Tag across releases and libraries
Auto Tag now uses Arctisoft Catalogue, matching existing metadata, filename information and track durations against release and recording data. Auto Tag Library groups the checked files into albums, identifies each album and presents track mappings for review.
Identification requires sign-in through Arctisoft Studio Hub in both editions; account allowances apply. There is no catalogue download or separate metadata-provider account to configure. Older third-party metadata credentials are no longer used for identification. Artwork is retrieved separately from the Cover Art Archive, and lyrics from LRCLIB, when requested. Audio fingerprints used for duplicate detection stay on the computer.
Delivery Check
Check files against the built-in Music library, Release master, broadcast and audiobook profiles, or define your own requirements. Checks cover required metadata, artwork, accepted audio formats and release consistency, including numbering, identifiers and barcodes. Profiles can also specify loudness and true-peak limits.
Basic includes the Music library profile. Premium adds the other built-in profiles, custom profiles and saved reports. These are preparation checks against defined requirements, rather than distributor or broadcast certification.
Loudness, rules and chapters
- Loudness and ReplayGain: true-peak measurement, loudness range, headroom reporting and selectable loudness targets extend track and album analysis. Opus gain is stored using its native R128 tags. Analysis and gain tags do not re-encode or normalize the audio.
- Loudness without extra components: FLAC, ALAC, AAC and WMA are measured with the decoders built into Windows. FFmpeg remains optional, for formats such as Opus and WavPack.
- Rule Studio: give individual actions their own conditions, chain saved rules, and use folder names, folder paths and extensions as rule inputs. Duplicated and imported numbering actions retain their counter-reset setting.
- Chapter Editor: import and export timed lists, cue sheets, Audacity labels, Ogg chapters and FFmpeg metadata. Chapter-list interchange is available in Basic; writing chapters requires Premium.
Studio Automation
Set up, save and run jobs in the application, with hourly or daily schedules through Windows Task Scheduler. Scheduled jobs can run while you are signed in to Windows without the editor being open. Watch folders and the command-line runner remain available for unattended work.
Jobs can process every supported audio format, work through a folder in batches, apply Delivery Check requirements to planned results, and configure output naming and container mappings. Dry runs and job reports let you inspect the proposed work. Studio Automation requires Premium; recovery, undo and diagnostic commands remain available in both editions.
A refined editing workspace
Updated navigation, editor views, artwork presentation, progress feedback, Settings and shared Arctisoft dialogs bring greater consistency across the application. Recent sources, clearer tag-status indicators and an expanded offline user guide support everyday library work.
Upgrading from 2.x
- Version 3 requires the current Arctisoft account service. Earlier versions are no longer supported.
- Uninstall version 2.x first in Settings > Apps > Installed apps, then install version 3 with the installer below or Arctisoft Studio Hub. Setup does not update a 2.x installation and asks for it to be removed. Version 3 starts with its own settings, libraries and rules. Files you tagged with an earlier version open unchanged.
- The command-line runner is
Notalis.Automation.exe.
Version 3 introduces a broader Premium edition. Basic retains manual batch and per-file editing, standard and custom fields, artwork, text and filename tools, metadata interchange, single-file Auto Tag, Library Health, undo and recovery.
Applying Rule Studio and Clean & Organize results, staging whole-release or whole-library Auto Tag and ReplayGain results, writing chapters, saving custom container mappings and registering additional indexed libraries require Premium. Basic keeps one indexed library. Saved profiles and previously registered libraries are retained when Premium is unavailable; recovery and undo remain accessible.
Premium licenses cover the major version purchased and its updates. Check Help > Edition & License for version 3 coverage and eligibility for the 14-day trial. See the edition comparison and current pricing before upgrading.
