Highlights
The validator subsystem introduces accounts lattice hash (SIMD-0215) for state verification and sync, alongside durable nonce accounts for reliable transaction replay protection. Genesis configuration now treats validator identities as system accounts with derived vote accounts, and allocates remaining mainnet supply to the BVI treasury key.
Network synchronization received targeted improvements to reliability and performance. The storage service coordination was fixed to ensure Bitcoin transactions are only sent after blocks are durably stored.
The transaction processing layer resolved multiple correctness and safety issues: programs now deploy at most once per block with metered ELF verification, unserializable CPIs and transaction results are rejected, and transactions that fail before paying fees are properly rejected. The loader now refuses multiple signing attempts across top-level instructions.
Testing infrastructure was hardened with existing tests now failing on regression, correctness checks asserting their claimed properties, and test failures made diagnosable and bounded.
Added
- Accounts lattice hash implementation (SIMD-0215) for state verification and synchronization
- Durable nonce accounts system feature for transaction replay protection
- Validator identities as system accounts with derived vote accounts in genesis
- Mainnet supply allocation to BVI treasury key in genesis configuration
- Metering for ELF verification during program deployment
- e2e test suite for durable nonce accounts
- Nonce expiration tolerance for concurrent writers
Changed
- Updated libp2p from 0.56 to 0.57
- Updated testcontainers from 0.24 to 0.28 (bollard 0.21)
- Removed migration and backwards-compatibility code for chain reset
- Removed legacy resharing data support
- Program deployment limited to once per block
- Improved network synchronization logic
- Enhanced testing suite correctness checks and diagnostic capabilities
- CI workflow now builds program binaries on cache restore miss
- Docker configuration and templates updated for new system account model
Fixed
- ROAST consensus now discards saved blocks when proposals fail before queueing
- Block's Bitcoin transactions only sent after storage service confirms persistence
- Transactions that fail before paying fees are now properly rejected
- Unserializable CPIs are rejected instead of causing block failure
- TPU aborts block when program cache cannot read an account
- Bitcoin inputs kept within signer decode bounds at execution time
- Loader refuses second transaction signing attempts across top-level instructions
- Key management nonce expiration handles concurrent writers
Performance and Observability
- ELF verification now metered during program deployment
- Network sync improvements reduce synchronization overhead
- Testing suite failures bounded and diagnosable
RPC and API Changes
No breaking RPC changes. System account model changes affect genesis configuration only.
Breaking Changes
- Durable nonce accounts feature changes account model (system feature)
- Validator identities now system accounts with derived vote accounts (genesis format change)
- Migration and backwards-compatibility code removed (node operators must use v0.11.0+ compatible state)
Migration Guidance
Node operators must start from a clean state or a state snapshot from v0.11.0 or later. Legacy resharing data and pre-reset chain state are no longer supported. Genesis configuration has changed to support system accounts for validator identities; custom genesis files must be regenerated. SDK consumers using durable nonce accounts should refer to the new nonce account system documentation.
Documentation
- Updated INSTALL.md with cleaner installation instructions
- Updated README.md and ARCH_STYLE.md
- Enhanced BETA_RELEASE_GUIDE.md
- arch-cli README updated for new features
- CI workflow documentation improved
