EternalVR v0.1.58 (alpha)

The sticks turn the pages on the mission Rewards screen and in the Dossier, the first grip press in the Dossier
works, and Vive wand labels no longer read like the trigger.

  • EternalVR-alpha-0.1.58-60826dd.zip (below)
  • SHA-256: 1dcf9a775346104eb2cb826a61fb97b9baca638fb0e8a33ee62f4ee6e0518f4d
  • VirusTotal: scan report (0 of 68; the mod's DLL 0 of 71 and the launcher 0 of 61.
DeepInstinct, a machine-learning engine, has flagged the DLL in earlier builds), and Windows Defender finds nothing.

If you have 0.1.6 or later, the launcher offers this update by itself (or use "Check now" on the Checks and log
tab). Otherwise unzip over the old folder or anywhere new, and run EternalVR.Launcher.exe. Your launcher
settings carry over.

This build was launch-tested on the Steam version (in a level) and the Game Pass version (up to the main menu), on my
test PC with the OpenXR simulator. None of the changes below have been played in a headset yet.

Playing on a lower-end PC? I'd love to hear how it runs:
tell me your card, settings and how it played.

What's new

  • The sticks turn the pages after a mission and in the Dossier. The Rewards tab after a mission showed
"A 1/2 D", keyboard keys no controller sent. It now reads "LS 1/2 RS": push either stick left or right, or
click the stick named, to turn the page (on Vive wands it's the trackpads, LP / RP). The same goes for the lists inside the Dossier's Arsenal (the
weapon row), Codex and Challenges pages. The grips still change the tabs, and pointing at an arrow and pulling
    the trigger still works.
  • The first grip press after opening the Dossier changes the tab. With your pointer off the menu, the
first grip (or any first button) after the Dossier opened did nothing, and after that the sticks could act
as if you were on the wrong page (scrolling on the map, or moving the map on another page).
  • Vive wands: the chainsaw's label reads RP Up instead of RT Up. The short button names from 0.1.57 used T
for the trackpad too, so the chainsaw's box looked like it meant the trigger. A trackpad (on Index controllers too) is
now P, so it reads RP Up (right trackpad, up).

Known issues

  • Foveated rendering on AMD and Intel cards (new in 0.1.56) hasn't been confirmed on those cards yet. If it
looks wrong or crashes, turn it off and tell me.
  • The HUD's smallest text is hard to read: the mission challenge names and the Demonic Corruption bar's
title. A larger HUD size on the Play tab makes them bigger.
  • With motion controllers off (gamepad), the weapon wheel still sits off to the right, where the game draws it.
  • A few screens still show keyboard keys: the fast-travel notice (Tab), the Fortress's collectible and music
    viewers (Q / E), the Arsenal's customizing hints (F, T, X), and tips whose text names a key ("pressing [M]").
  • Sights are lined up on five guns so far; the rest can point a little off. Go by the Aim dot.
  • The Precision Bolt's scope sits about 3 degrees off your aim, because the Heavy Cannon is lined up for its
    iron sights.
  • With head aim there's no crosshair or aim mark while the Precision Bolt is zoomed in. Shots go to the middle
of your view. On the Game Pass version head aim may still show the scope's ring.
  • The gun doesn't sit exactly in your hand on every weapon; some guns sit a little off.
  • Parallel Eye Rendering is still highly experimental and off by default. The full list is under "Parallel Eye
    Rendering" in KNOWN-ISSUES.
