EternalVR v0.1.56 (alpha)
Foveated rendering now has a path for AMD and Intel graphics cards too, thanks to @vinionsinho (#33).

named threat; it has flagged the mod's DLL before; the launcher is 0 of 71), and Windows Defender finds nothing.
If you have 0.1.6 or later, the launcher offers this update by itself (or use "Check now" on the Checks and log
tab). Otherwise unzip over the old folder or anywhere new, and run EternalVR.Launcher.exe. Your launcher
settings carry over.
This build was launch-tested on the Steam version (in a level) and the Game Pass version (up to the main menu), on my
test PC with the OpenXR simulator. None of the changes below have been played in a headset yet.
Playing on a lower-end PC? I'd love to hear how it runs:
tell me your card, settings and how it played.
What's new
- Foveated rendering on AMD and Intel cards. Until now it only worked on NVIDIA RTX cards; other cards just
ignored the setting. @vinionsinho added a second path through Vulkan's standard variable rate shading
(VK_KHR_fragment_shading_rate), so it should now work on AMD Radeon RX 6000 cards and newer, and on Intel Arc.
Thanks a lot for the PR! I reworked parts of it after review. On my test PC (an RTX 3080 Ti, forced through the
new path) it shades the same areas as the NVIDIA path with about the same speed-up at Maximum, and the NVIDIA
path hasn't changed. I don't have an AMD or Intel card myself: vinionsinho ran his first version on an RX 6750
XT, and Intel Arc hasn't been tried at all yet. If you have one of those cards, turn on "Foveated rendering" on
the Play tab and tell me how it looks and runs.
Known issues
- Foveated rendering on AMD and Intel cards is new and untested here. Intel Arc hasn't been tried at all, and
nobody has played this build on either yet. If it looks wrong or crashes, turn it off and tell me. - With motion controllers off (gamepad), the weapon wheel still sits off to the right, where the game draws it.
- Some prompts still show keyboard keys, for example the page arrows on the Rewards tab after a mission
("A 1/2 D"). Point at an arrow and pull the trigger instead. - Sights are lined up on five guns so far; the rest can point a little off. Go by the Aim dot.
- The Precision Bolt's scope sits about 3 degrees off your aim, because the Heavy Cannon is lined up for its
iron sights. - With head aim there's no crosshair or aim mark while the Precision Bolt is zoomed in. Shots go to the middle
of your view. On the Game Pass version head aim may still show the scope's ring. - The gun doesn't sit exactly in your hand on every weapon; some guns sit a little off.
- Parallel Eye Rendering is still highly experimental and off by default. The full list is under "Parallel Eye
Rendering" in KNOWN-ISSUES.
