EternalVR v0.1.55 (alpha)

The weapon wheel now opens straight ahead of you, and cutscenes play by default now.

  • EternalVR-alpha-0.1.55-f94803c.zip (below)
  • SHA-256: ee0c5df0222622832d5b6ee9733f06a93c02e37e7d2c0a59faade4d2f8ae65f2
  • VirusTotal: scan report (1 of 66: DeepInstinct, a machine-learning engine, with no
named threat; it has flagged the mod's DLL before; the launcher is 0 of 69), and Windows Defender finds nothing.

If you have 0.1.6 or later, the launcher offers this update by itself (or use "Check now" on the Checks and log
tab). Otherwise unzip over the old folder or anywhere new, and run EternalVR.Launcher.exe. Your launcher
settings carry over.

This build was launch-tested on the Steam version (in a level) and the Game Pass version (up to the main menu), on my
test PC with the OpenXR simulator. None of the changes below have been played in a headset yet.

Playing on a lower-end PC? I'd love to hear how it runs:
tell me your card, settings and how it played.

What's new

  • The weapon wheel opens straight ahead. The game draws its wheel well to the right of the screen's middle, so
in VR it sat about 22 degrees to the right at the default HUD settings, and up to 40 degrees with a wide HUD set
close, at the edge of your view or past it. Now, while the wheel is open, it's drawn straight ahead at your HUD
distance, at the same size for everyone, and the rest of your HUD stays where it is. Picking works as before.
  • Cutscenes play by default. "Skip cutscenes" on the Play tab was on by default, so every cutscene was cut after
a moment, and it was easy to miss why. It's off by default now, and this update turns it off once for everyone. If
you skip them on purpose, tick it again. With it off, hold dash (B on the weapon hand) to skip one.

Known issues

  • With motion controllers off (gamepad), the weapon wheel still sits off to the right, where the game draws it.
  • Some prompts still show keyboard keys, for example the page arrows on the Rewards tab after a mission
("A 1/2 D"). Point at an arrow and pull the trigger instead.
  • Sights are lined up on five guns so far; the rest can point a little off. Go by the Aim dot.
  • The Precision Bolt's scope sits about 3 degrees off your aim, because the Heavy Cannon is lined up for its
    iron sights.
  • With head aim there's no crosshair or aim mark while the Precision Bolt is zoomed in. Shots go to the middle
of your view. On the Game Pass version head aim may still show the scope's ring.
  • The gun doesn't sit exactly in your hand on every weapon; some guns sit a little off.
  • Parallel Eye Rendering is still highly experimental and off by default. The full list is under "Parallel Eye
    Rendering" in KNOWN-ISSUES.
