EternalVR v0.1.38 (alpha)

Parallel Eye Rendering is now in the release for testing (off unless you start it with its own script), weapon
picks by direction now follow the game's own wheel, and the launcher no longer calls TAA the recommended
anti-aliasing.

Download

  • EternalVR-alpha-0.1.38-edb14ca.zip (below)
  • SHA-256: b32b1d1b68b70f9281b400a4868c4102d8a0e30e3ac57caf4682841601cc97ad
  • VirusTotal: scan report (1 of 67: DeepInstinct, a machine-learning engine, with no named threat; it has flagged
the mod's DLL before), and Windows Defender finds nothing.

If you have 0.1.6 or later, the launcher offers this update by itself (or use "Check now" on the Checks and log
tab). Otherwise unzip over the old folder or anywhere new, and run EternalVR.Launcher.exe. Your launcher
settings carry over.

What's new

  • Parallel Eye Rendering (experimental, Steam version only): both eyes drawn as two views of one game frame
instead of one after the other. It can help when your processor is what holds the frame rate back. To try it,
close the launcher and start Launch-Parallel-Eye-Test.cmd in the release folder instead, and tick Parallel Eye
    Rendering
on the Play tab under Picture. It works with TAA, DLSS or Off. If you have a 12 GB card or less,
set the game's Texture Pool Size one step lower first. README-ALPHA has the details, and I'd love to hear how
it feels compared to the normal renderer (an Export report... after the session helps a lot).
  • Thumb-rest weapon by direction: the directions now match the game's own weapon wheel (the rocket launcher is
left, the heavy cannon right, and so on), and a flick that curves on its way out now picks the direction it
reaches, not the one it first passed through. While touched with Weapon by direction is the
    combination to try.
If you added a weapon_directions line to launcher.ini for 0.1.37, remove it; the defaults now match the
wheel, and an old line would mix with them.
  • In-headset captures now also note where you're standing in the level, so when you send one with a bug I can
    go to the exact spot.
  • Anti-aliasing: TAA is still the default, but it's no longer labelled recommended. Plenty of people prefer
DLSS, so pick whichever looks better to you.

Known issues

  • Parallel Eye Rendering: some reflections can show in one eye only, and it
needs more video memory than the normal renderer. The full list is under "Parallel Eye Rendering" in
    KNOWN-ISSUES.
  • This release was tried in a headset with Virtual Desktop. If Quest Link, Air Link, SteamVR or Windows Mixed
Reality show anything new compared to 0.1.37, please tell me.
  • Edit controls... can take several seconds to open and shows "Not Responding" first. It does open; a fix is
    coming.

The full list is in
KNOWN-ISSUES.
