⚠️ Important
SyncLyrics now checks for updates once a day and sends anonymous usage stats: the version, how it's installed, the OS, and which sources and lyrics providers you use. It never sends what you're listening to or your settings, and your IP address isn't stored. You can turn both off in Settings > Updates. Details: Usage Stats.
✨ New Features
Now Playing Input
Your phone, a Home Assistant automation or your own script can now tell SyncLyrics what's playing, and it shows the lyrics. Phones work through Tasker or MacroDroid: send the song to POST /api/now-playing. Turn it on in Settings > Media (off by default), and set a token there if SyncLyrics is reachable from the internet.
Music Assistant: music it didn't start
Music Assistant players now show lyrics for music started elsewhere, like the Sonos app, Spotify Connect, AirPlay or a radio button. Play, pause, skip and seek go straight to the speaker.
TIDAL (tidal-hifi)
A new source reads what's playing in tidal-hifi, the TIDAL desktop app. Turn it on in Settings > Media (off by default).
Windows players over the network (smtc-now-playing)
A Docker or Home Assistant install can now follow any player on a Windows PC running smtc-now-playing. Turn it on in Settings > Media (off by default).
Update notices and a new Overview page
Settings now opens on an Overview page with your version, what's new, a quick status check and how to update. A small dot on the settings icon means an update is out, and after an update this What's New panel shows once.
🐛 Bug Fixes and Improvements
- Fixed next-track album art not loading with Music Assistant. Thanks to @morgancurrie in #26.
- Fixed the main album art request size for Music Assistant, which newer Music Assistant versions reject.
- Fixed Music Assistant radio stations showing the station name instead of the song that's playing, so lyrics can now be found for radio too.
- Music Assistant now asks the MA server for the queue far less often, so there's less network chatter.
- Fixed the source name showing "Idle" while Pear Desktop was playing.
- Fixed audio recognition still trying ACRCloud after its daily limit was used up.
- Fixed browsers sometimes showing an outdated version of the page for up to 12 hours after an update.
- Fixed a rare case where app state could be lost if SyncLyrics stopped while saving it.
- The Linux AppImage now runs on older Linux versions too. Its file name now ends in
x86_64.AppImageinstead oflinux-x64.AppImage.
