Why paid features exist, explained.
- Dislike counts stay free for everyone. Next to each paid feature (the sign-in card in the extension menu, the Premium Insights teaser and the RYD comments box), a short note now explains that paid extras help pay for the servers: over 15 TB of data and about 20 million users a day, on a budget of a few hundred dollars a month.
- The welcome page includes a short letter about running costs. On Firefox, its permission section now starts with a short summary of Firefox's new privacy rules.
- Extension pages no longer show untranslated text while they load, and the extension menu fits without scrolling.
- Chrome: RYD no longer asks for separate access to its own server, only for access to YouTube.
- The GitHub sign-in and the "Hide clutter buttons" setting are now translated in 17 more languages, and the Japanese text was reviewed and corrected throughout.
This release is for Chrome, Edge and Firefox (140 or newer).
