English
OxideTerm 2.2.5 adds connection-scoped tabs, quick-command group filtering and icon colors, standalone SSH tunnels, and optional command-output folding. It unifies terminal and editor search and supports opening the remote IDE in the current terminal environment. The release also improves interface motion, privilege authentication, light/dark appearance schemes, plugin connection sync, and RDP display layouts, while fixing CJK selections, file links, SSH Agent handling, and file access on restricted servers.
🗂️ Workspace and tabs
- The title-bar scope selector shows all tabs, global pages, local terminals, or tabs for one connection, remembering the selected page in each scope. Filtered scopes show visible and total counts and a Show All action; clearing the filter preserves the current page.
- Scope names are centered in the title bar. Tab widths account for titles and controls, improving long titles, close buttons, and horizontal scrolling.
- Added compact workspace actions and a background-task summary to the title bar, with navigation to the associated work. Tooltips transition more smoothly when moving, switching, or disappearing, and Zen-mode hints reflect configured shortcuts.
- Moved the assistant and host tools to the right activity rail, grouped tools by purpose, and clarified their icons. Overflow appears only when the rail runs out of space.
⚡ Quick commands
- Added a fixed group selector with search to the left of the quick bar while commands scroll independently on the right. The selection persists across restarts independently of management-panel filtering; deleting a group returns to All Groups, and empty groups remain switchable. (Issue #717)
- Group icons support custom colors, validation, and resetting to the theme color. Commands inherit their group's color, which is preserved in saved data, import/export, and cloud sync.
- Long command names use an ellipsis, with the full name and command preview available on hover. Long previews have line and character limits to avoid covering the terminal; ordering remains in the management panel.
🔎 Search and remote IDE
- Unified search controls across terminals, the IDE, and SFTP editors, including case sensitivity, regular expressions, and multiline input. Editors support capture-group replacement and Replace All. (PR #719)
- Terminal search starts near the current viewport and reanchors navigation after manual scrolling. Matches update during ongoing output, and CJK highlight ranges use the correct cell widths. Editors can scroll the final line into view and coordinate horizontal scrolling with cursor and search navigation. (PR #719)
- Improved newline entry in multiline find/replace, search focus in detached windows, and automatic scrolling when dragging a text selection to editor edges.
- Remote IDE access can use SFTP or SSH; SSH supports pure Shell access or an agent installed or reused on demand. Convert to IDE from an existing terminal preserves its current user, container, and directory and supports returning to the original terminal. (PR #716)
- Agent installation shows progress, file reads detect binary content early, and saves are serialized per file while retaining conflict checks. Pure Shell search has bounded results and execution, and remote save temporaries use restricted permissions. (PR #716)
- The IDE file-tree divider is draggable. File-access choices use themed application dialogs with keyboard support.
⌨️ Terminal and Shell integration
- Added opt-in command-output folding. Completed output can be collapsed while retaining a summary, exit status, and an expand action. Fold ranges survive window resizing, with clearer gutter markers.
- Terminal triggers support click actions, menu entries, and hover hints for matched text, with matched content and named captures available in text and addresses.
- Shell integration reports the working directory, command boundaries, and exit status, coordinating native and injected Shell markers. Remote integration distinguishes installation, updates, and repairs and supports deferring an update; changes take effect in new terminals.
- Hovering Unix timestamps shows local time. Clicking supported archive paths generates an extraction command for the current Shell and available tools, with a preview before inserting it into the command bar.
- Fixed translucent selection backgrounds being painted twice over wide CJK characters and applied theme selection colors and opacity correctly. Windows file links now handle drive letters, network shares, Unicode, and special characters.
- Configured middle/right-click paste takes precedence over application mouse tracking. Fixed Kitty images disappearing during synchronized redraws and improved monospace font fallback and unavailable-font notices.
- Local Shell executables can be overridden per device or restored to automatic detection. These paths are excluded from cross-device settings exports.
- Deleting saved Telnet, Mosh, or serial profiles removes their associated command history, and asynchronous restoration cannot bring deleted history back. Empty retirement prefixes no longer risk clearing all history. (PR #709, #712)
🔌 SSH, tunnels, and device connections
- Added standalone SSH tunnel profiles for local, remote, and dynamic SOCKS5 forwarding, with Save and Start and optional application-startup activation. Tunnels can run without a terminal pane; profiles support cloud sync and encrypted
.oxideimport/export. Exiting the application stops the tunnels. - SSH Agent authentication tries all identities before RSA algorithm retries, avoiding premature exhaustion of the server's authentication budget. Multiple Shell channels on one physical connection reuse accepted Agent forwarding.
- SFTP reuses available channels when the server limits SSH sessions, reducing failures caused by opening additional sessions.
- Host tools support servers that reject exec or require Shell/PTY access and correctly handle echoed probe commands. Commands whose results are unknown after submission are not automatically replayed. (PR #701)
- Telnet send and receive line endings are configurable independently. XMODEM upload blocks can use 128 or 1024 bytes.
🔑 Privilege credentials and authentication
- Common SSH privilege credentials support host wildcards, with connection-specific credentials taking precedence over host matches and generic defaults. A unique match can optionally be filled and submitted automatically. (PR #708)
- Prompt types and response modes are configured independently: password only, password followed by a separate TOTP response, or a combined password-and-TOTP response. Two-stage verification supports separate prompt matching and user hints; repeated second-factor requests fall back to manual input. (PR #708)
- Encrypted connection exports include only common privilege credentials matching the connection's host and the TOTP credentials they reference. Imported copies remain scoped to the connection. (PR #708)
- Metadata-only credential imports retain existing keychain references when identity, type, and connection scope match. Replacements clean up old secrets, and deferred cleanup preserves references still in use. (PR #703)
- Credential save failures retain the original persistence error. Failed cleanup is queued for retry rather than masking the save failure. (PR #706)
🎨 Appearance and AI
- Choose fixed light, fixed dark, or system-following appearance, configure application and terminal themes independently for each scheme, and assign the current appearance to a scheme.
- Unified transitions across sidebars, selection highlights, dialogs, notifications, and button feedback. Rapid changes and reversals continue smoothly from the current state instead of restarting and jumping.
- Interface motion consistently follows the Normal, Fast, Reduced, and Off profiles. Reduced removes movement and rotation while retaining subtle fades; Off updates the interface immediately without waiting for animations.
- The Knowledge workspace's Notes header now matches the navigation sidebar's translucent theme background for clearer structure over background media.
- Network requests use the operating system's certificate trust store, including installed corporate or proxy CAs. Model-refresh failures show clearer errors. (PR #718)
- Nix packages preserve explicit certificate environment overrides and prefer host certificates. Model-refresh notifications avoid exposing raw server error bodies or credentials. (PR #718)
- Fixed model-list discovery for custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints. Conversation images now appear above the text bubble.
🧩 Plugin connections and remote desktops
- Plugins can provide live workbenches and persistent connection types that can be opened, edited, and deleted in Session Manager.
- Plugin connection profiles and credentials support cloud sync and encrypted
.oxideimport/export, including previews, change merging, and sensitive-data selection. - Unified RDP single- and multi-monitor sizing: single-monitor resolution follows the window, while multi-monitor sessions use the active display layout and window resizing changes only local scaling. Improved layout updates when the internal display is disabled, external displays change, or sessions reconnect, preventing window dimensions from overriding multi-monitor layouts.
- macOS release packages use a newer SDK to align the system-control styling baseline. Intel and Apple Silicon builds explicitly target macOS 13.0 as the minimum, fixing build-version verification failures for Intel packages.

📌 Usage and upgrade notes
- The RDP display and resize-renegotiation fixes require RDP plugin 0.2.0, which requires OxideTerm 2.2.5 or later.
- Before converting the current terminal to IDE mode, return to an idle Shell prompt and handle any pending input. Terminal input is paused during conversion. Pure Shell file access requires Linux with GNU find, stat, grep, and coreutils; agent mode installs or reuses an agent in the selected environment.
- Automatic privilege filling is opt-in. A common SSH credential with the host pattern
*applies to every host; configure patterns for the intended scope. - Full changelog: v2.2.4…v2.2.5.
