English
OxideTerm 2.2.2 moves ACP adapters, RDP/VNC engines, and Mosh transport into independently updated plugins, adds FIDO security-key authentication, and introduces the extensible v2 marketplace. Plugins can now declare language associations and embedded grammars dynamically, alongside improvements to plugin installation, AI conversations, file previews, and connection interactions.
🧩 Marketplace and independent updates
- Switched the marketplace to v2: plugin summaries load first, with individual version histories fetched and verified on demand. The client continues to select the highest release compatible with the application and platform.
- Added sorting by name, recently updated, and newly listed, with the selection saved. Sorting applies to the complete filtered result before pagination; changing it returns to the first page while preserving search and category filters.
- Added an installation queue with individual installing, queued, retry, and cancel-queued states. Search, filters, pagination, and additional installation requests remain available during installation.
- Expanded marketplace and installed-plugin details display the license, with links to license text and third-party notices when provided by the plugin.
- Missing, disabled, or incompatible ACP, RDP, VNC, and Mosh plugins now show explicit guidance and a plugin-management entry, replacing ambiguous provider-unavailable messages after upgrades.
🔌 ACP and remote connection plugins
- Codex and Claude Code ACP adapters, plus RDP, VNC, and Mosh executables, now load from marketplace plugins and update independently. The application retains its native chat, remote desktop, terminal, connection profiles, and authentication flows.
- ACP agents communicate directly with the application using standard ACP; RDP/VNC and Mosh use their dedicated protocols. Disabling, updating, or uninstalling a plugin stops its associated processes and sessions.
- Removed the ACP settings page. Installing and enabling an ACP plugin automatically creates its agent configuration without a startup-command form. Working directory, additional arguments, and environment variables remain optional settings.
- Added launchers for locally installed OpenCode, Antigravity, Cursor, Grok Build, GitHub Copilot CLI, Qwen Code, and Kimi CLI. These plugins discover and start the program; users must install and sign in to the corresponding official CLI first.
- Integrated Cursor question selection and plan confirmation, including single choice, multiple choice, approval, rejection, and cancellation, so agents can complete these interactions.
- Aligned the RDP/VNC footer with the workspace status bar and the SSH session expansion arrow with other connection types. Nix packaging also stops bundling the extracted remote desktop executables.
🔐 FIDO security-key authentication
- Added integration with the FIDO Security Key plugin for SSH authentication using existing
ed25519-skandecdsa-skprivate-key files, with native PIN, touch, and cancellation prompts. - Starts the signing provider on demand through private pipes, verifies protocol versions and signatures, and stops and reaps it on cancellation, timeout, or plugin retirement. PINs and credential handles are excluded from settings and logs, and temporary buffers are cleared after use.
- The plugin does not enroll keys, export device private keys, or cache PINs. Generate keys with FIDO-capable OpenSSH and configure the public key on the server first. Protocol and software-signing paths have been verified; real-device touch, PIN, and SSH login still need hardware validation.
🎨 Dynamic language support
- Language plugins can declare language names, extensions, and exact filenames. The host discovers these associations and installation entries dynamically, allowing future languages without adding each one to a host-side list.
- Open editors and local or SFTP code previews refresh language support when plugins are installed, enabled, disabled, or updated.
- Plugins can include embedded grammars so mixed-language files such as Vue and Svelte highlight scripts, styles, and markup separately.
- Added marketplace plugins for XML, DTD, INI, Kotlin, Dart, Nix, Julia, Vue, Svelte, Slint, AWK, jq, Justfile, Groovy, Clojure/ClojureScript, Erlang, OCaml, OCaml Interface, and Typst. Lua, TOML, and YAML remain built in.
💬 AI and workspace experience
- Replaced individual AI tool cards with compact flat activity lists that group related calls, show status, count, and duration, and expand to reveal calls and results.
- ACP context usage now uses agent-reported data instead of ordinary model-history estimates, avoiding premature context-limit warnings.
- Placed changing runtime observations after the stable prompt prefix, retaining current targets, state, and timestamps while reducing changes to the fixed prompt.
- Unified the start page's connection, terminal, import, and management entries as buttons, retaining recent connections and shortcut entries.
- Raised the local PDF preview limit to 100 MiB. Local audio and video play from the original files. Other local previews retain their existing limits, and SFTP preview limits are unchanged.
🛠️ Connection and input fixes
- Enter in local and SFTP path bars now opens the typed path by default. A completion is opened only after explicit arrow-key selection; Tab still accepts completion, so suggestion timing no longer changes navigation. (Issue #659)
- Terminal context menus use their rendered size for positioning and correctly adjust at window edges, including scaled displays and plugin menus. (Issue #658)
- SSH interactive-authentication dialogs now use an opaque overlay and pause connection animations while awaiting input, reducing graphical work triggered by cursor and countdown redraws. (Issue #612)
📌 Upgrade notes
- After upgrading, install and enable the ACP, RDP, VNC, or Mosh plugins you need from the marketplace. Existing connection profiles remain usable; consult plugin details for platform support and external-program requirements.
- FIDO integration and the new dynamic-language capabilities require OxideTerm 2.2.2 or later. Native process plugins still require approval to run local code.
- Marketplace v1 is permanently frozen, with its original URL, index contents, and packages retained. Future plugins and releases are published only to v2; older clients must upgrade the application to receive them.
