v4.0.0-beta.4 — Native Browser Activation and Default App Controls

What's Changed

Browser activation now starts the Rayburst installation paired with the Native Messaging host, independently of the rayburst:// default handler. Default Programs also gains explicit status and repair controls for files and links.

Browser Activation

• Launch the paired executable on Windows and Linux, and the containing application bundle on macOS. A broken URL association no longer blocks this activation path.
• Keep the Native Messaging bridge, avoiding Chromium's external-protocol confirmation for extension activation.
• Preserve an AppImage launch target outside its temporary mount. After moving an AppImage, launch it manually once to refresh browser registration.
• Prevent development builds from replacing installed browser-host registrations or changing system associations.

Default Programs

• Add rayburst:// and .torrent alongside magnet://, ed2k:// and thunder://, using Windows Shell, macOS LaunchServices and Linux GIO.
• Distinguish missing Windows handlers from query failures, and keep repair actions available when a status query fails.
• Verify the effective default after each change. If Windows requires a manual selection, show an Open system settings button instead of opening Settings automatically.
• Register Windows application capabilities during installation and remove only entries owned by that installation during uninstall.
• Put Rayburst first, with compact status and handler fields, copy and reveal actions, and a separate development-mode notice. Update all 27 interface languages.

Packaging

• Build macOS packages on macOS 26 with Xcode 26.3 to avoid the Icon Composer asset-runtime crash observed on the macOS 15 ARM runner.

Downloads

Packages are attached as release builds complete. This prerelease uses the beta update channel and continues to bundle aria2-next 2.8.0.
