v2.8.4 - Stream I/O and HTTP Recovery Fixes

Summary

Aria2 Next 2.8.4 moves stream disk operations off the engine thread and fixes recovery for interrupted or compressed HTTP responses. It also improves filenames after redirects and wildcard proxy bypass rules.

Fixed

  • Download responsiveness: run file creation, allocation, writes, close and recovery checkpoints in order on worker threads, keeping slow disk operations out of the network and RPC loop. Pause network reads while queued writes catch up.
  • Pause and completion: wait for pending writes and checkpoints before finalizing a task. Report disk errors even when a pause is pending, and save only successfully written ranges for recovery.
  • Recovery records: update stream checkpoints transactionally and validate saved ranges. Task lookup uses committed state without waiting for another download's database write.
  • HTTP responses: accept a complete response when a server ignores an initial range request. Reject compressed byte ranges before writing them; where the range policy permits, restart with a complete response and let libcurl decode it. Track the decoded file length correctly.
  • Interrupted downloads: retry recoverable full-response failures from the beginning and handle unsatisfiable ranges without leaving a task active with no request. Explicit range-size limits remain enforced.
  • Filenames: recognize a URL's filename= query parameter and retain the original URL's filename hint across redirects, while preserving explicit output names and higher-priority browser or server names.
  • Proxy bypass: support hostname patterns such as *.example.com and dlinks.*, and reevaluate them for stream HTTP redirects. Existing native IP and CIDR rules remain available.

Changed

  • Full-response restarts use a bounded budget based on --max-tries; 0 allows three such restarts. The delay is at least one second and honors a longer --retry-wait.
