Summary
Aria2 Next 2.2.8 improves HTTP download reliability for browser-forwarded requests, large ranged transfers, compressed metadata probes, and rate-limited mirrors. It also refreshes project documentation and GitHub issue intake around the current Aria2 Next branding and supported workflows.
Added
- HTTP/2 TLS negotiation support when the linked libcurl build supports it, while preserving HTTP/1.1 fallback behavior.
- Error-page detection for binary-looking downloads so small HTML login, verification, challenge, or confirmation pages are not silently saved as target files.
- Focused C++ regression coverage for adaptive HTTP rate-limit handling and compressed HEAD metadata probes.
Changed
- Browser-provided request context is now preserved more strictly in the libcurl path, including task-level User-Agent, Referer, cookies, forwarded headers, and Accept-Encoding behavior.
- HTTP metadata probes avoid trusting compressed HEAD Content-Length values and can fall back to Range probing for the real entity size.
- HTTP 429 and 503 responses now drive retry and adaptive concurrency behavior instead of aborting the whole task immediately.
- Documentation, support guidance, integration notes, and issue templates now use the Aria2 Next product name and current project scope.
Fixed
- Fixed downloads that could initialize storage with a bogus 20-byte length when servers returned compressed HEAD metadata for large binary files.
- Fixed ranged downloads against rate-limited mirrors by shrinking concurrency, respecting Retry-After when available, and retrying the affected segment.
- Fixed duplicate or conflicting libcurl request headers for task-level browser context forwarding.
