Caution
This version is a pre-release with major changes and must not be used in production.
You are encouraged to test this pre-release version in your test environment and report any issue with real-world data.
Caution
NetBox v4.7.0 and netbox-data-flows v1.6.0-rc1 had a bug in Postgres triggers that may lead to data corruption if you have restored a Postgres backup from version RC1 before doing the update.
If you are updating from RC1 to RC2, please read this warning.
Warning
This version is only compatible with NetBox 4.7.x and later. If you are still using NetBox v4.6, please use version v1.5.4 of the plugin.
Changes compared to RC1
Fix a bug in NetBox's Postgres triggers and fix permissions issues.
Indirect and tagged assignments to object aliases
You have now more options to add prefixes, IP ranges and IP addresses to object aliases. These are visible in the data flow tab of a device or virtual machine, for example, or when filtering the list of object aliases or the sources and destinations of data flows.
- Direct assignment: Prefix, IP range or IP address that are explicitly added to an object alias.
- Indirect assignment: Prefix, IP range or IP address that are fully contained in a larger prefix or IP range that is part of the object alias.
- Tagged assignment: You can now add device tags and virtual machine tags to an object alias. The IP addresses of devices and VMs with these tags will be included in the object alias.
Three matching options are available for device tags and virtual machine tags:
- Primary IPs (default): the tags will only include the primary IPv4 and IPv6 of the tagged devices
- OOB IP: the tags will only include the out-of-band IP of tagged devices (not available for VM)
- All IPs: the tags will include all the IP addresses assigned to any interface of the tagged devices or virtual machines.
You can find more information in the documentation. Please report your feedback for these new features in the release discussion.
Compatibility
NetBox: >=4.7.1
Python: >=3.12
Update procedure
Caution
The database migrations of this version are irreversible. You will not be able to downgrade the plugin's version after the update (downgrading was never supported). Do a backup before.
The migration can take some time if you have many data flow groups due to the conversion of the underlying database implementation.
- Run NetBox's
upgrade.sh, and restart NetBox
Check the documentation for further instructions.
