Beta 6
Notes
This update introduces several new gameplay options, additional visual settings, and improvements to the launcher. It also includes experimental fixes for AMD GPU compatibility and crashes reported by some players. The launcher now includes an option to unlock all campaign missions and intel rewards.
For AMD GPU users: I have updated the SMAA rendering compatibility checks to account for differences in texture formats between GPU vendors. However, this fix has not yet been verified on affected hardware. If the game still falls back to flat-screen mode, please disable anti-aliasing or switch to FXAA and submit a diagnostic report.
For players experiencing crashes when shooting or killing enemies: We have made changes to Lua script lifecycle management that may address some of these crashes. Since the issue has not been reliably reproduced on the developer's machine, further testing is needed.
Depth of field and motion blur can now be controlled from the launcher. Please note that these options modify the game's native graphics settings and also affect non-VR gameplay.
If you encounter any problems, please use vr_diagnose or press Ctrl+Shift+F8 to generate a diagnostic report. For crashes, please continue to provide the minidump file when available.
Thank you for your continued testing and feedback.
Changes
- Added an option to unlock all campaign missions and intel rewards directly from the launcher.
- Added EXO Punch, an optional cheat that increases physical melee damage and can send enemies flying on lethal hits. Requires ragdolls to be enabled in the game's graphics settings.
- Added the ability to sprint while aiming down sights, enabled by default. Native stamina, stance, and mission restrictions still apply.
- Added independent depth of field and motion blur switches to the launcher, both disabled by default when no existing setting is present.
- Added a subtitle toggle to the launcher, enabled by default.
- Added positional impact sounds for successful bare-handed punches.
- Improved the launcher's appearance, animations, page transitions, and window resizing behavior.
- Improved post-processing diagnostics to provide more detailed information about incompatible anti-aliasing resources.
Fixes Attempted - Verification Needed
The following issues have been addressed in the code, but further testing on affected systems is required to confirm the fixes:
- AMD GPU compatibility with SMAA anti-aliasing. Updated texture format validation to support the RG8 edge buffers used on some AMD GPUs, potentially preventing VR from falling back to flat-screen mode.
- Crashes when shooting or killing enemies. Improved Lua script cleanup during initialization and restarts to prevent stale callbacks and hooks from surviving script reloads.
Known Issues - More Information Needed
The following issues remain under investigation. Additional diagnostic reports and feedback would be appreciated:
- Black screen on the thermal imaging UI for the M82 / Javelin.
- Reversed controls for the Predator drone.
- Crashes during shooting, enemy deaths, or certain campaign sequences that may persist despite the experimental fix.
- AMD GPU anti-aliasing compatibility issues that may persist after the latest changes.
- Device-specific controller input and tracking issues.
Known Issues - Planned for Future Updates
The following issues are known and are planned to be addressed in later versions:
- Predator drone control rework.
- Players falling through terrain collision and clipping into the backrooms.
- Body height tracking support.
