NeoHtop gets a refreshed desktop, a proper menu-bar companion, and more ways to see what your machine is doing. Free, open source, and still yours to customize—with all 24 themes.
A familiar app, with a fresh interface
Shared shadcn-svelte controls bring consistent spacing, clearer search and filters, and better dialogs and detail views. Native application icons make processes easier to recognize; the ghost fills in when the system cannot supply one.
CPU, memory, GPU and network cards get interactive charts with faded fills and roughly two minutes of local history. Every resource card opens a detailed view. Preferences now live in their own Settings window and synchronize across the desktop and companion.
Meet your menu-bar companion
A rounded overview puts CPU, memory, GPU, network, free storage and your five busiest processes one click away. Open a process inspector directly from the overview. Samples, pause and theme are shared with the main app; the hidden companion stops polling.
Enable Keep running when the window closes in Settings to keep monitoring from the tray. Closing the main window otherwise quits by default. Quit NeoHtop always exits completely.
Follow the process family. Find the port.
- Expand parent/child process trees with family CPU and RAM totals, contextual search and stable pagination.
- Search
:3000orport:443to find local TCP listeners and bound UDP sockets. Socket scans run only during an explicit port query; bare numbers still match PIDs. - Inspect driver-dependent GPU utilization, memory, temperature, power and clocks. Supported Linux DRM drivers also expose optional per-process GPU engine activity.
- Missing or inaccessible readings stay unavailable. Unknown storage capacity no longer produces invalid percentages, and network rates handle new and reset interfaces correctly.
Downloads and verification
Choose the matching architecture in the release assets below: macOS Apple Silicon or Intel DMG; Windows x64 installer; or Linux x86_64/ARM64 deb, rpm or AppImage.
macOS release packages are signed and notarized. Windows code signing is not configured. Verify downloads against SHA256SUMS; release-manifest.json lists every installer and its build information. See the installation guide for platform-specific help.
Privacy in v1.3.0
Official builds send one basic app-open count and the app version per launch, even when optional sharing is off. This has no persistent identifier and counts launches, not unique people. Settings → Privacy → Share feature usage is off by default. Process names, commands, search text, port numbers, paths and system readings stay local. Analytics delivery never blocks monitoring. Read the privacy notice.
Compatibility
GPU readings depend on the OS and driver; per-process GPU engine accounting requires supported Linux DRM drivers. Apple silicon GPU memory is shared system RAM. Family memory totals may double-count shared pages. Tray behavior varies by Linux desktop. Source builds require Node.js 22 and Rust 1.88 or newer.
Thanks to @felipe-vicente for local-port search in #201, @nezmaka for GPU work in #202, and @dajiaohuang for the storage fix in #204.
