Games

  • Fixed a rarer crash in Yakuza: Dead Souls that could happen while hours into gameplay, now it plays for hours without a freeze.** Thanks again to YHVH on Discord for testing!
image
  • Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty and Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus run smoother in combat. Done by @k1r4ct. (30-38fps on an 8 Gen 2).
  • LittleBigPlanet 2 patched for online play gets its patches. Disable MLAA and the game's other options show up in its patch list, off until you turn them on. done by @k1r4ct

  • Final Fantasy XIII comes set up for you: SPU Block Size Mega and Stub PPU Traps 20 are on for it in every region. Fixes crashing and performance issues.
image
  • Uncharted 3 and God of War: Ascension come set up too, with Stub PPU Traps 1 in every region and edition, Game of the Year and PSN included, to avoid Stub PPU Trap crashing, (this crash seems to be on a per user basis, so if you're saying to yourself, weird, the game played fine for me without setting that, it'll vary. This reduces the likeliness of this crash though!)

Performance and display

  • Games run much better while having OnePlus Game Space on. LittleBigPlanet 2 holds 30 fps in game mode on a OnePlus 12, the same as without it. Thanks to Harry2k1 on Discord for testing!

Before 6-18fps:

After 30fps:

image
  • Games that lean on the SPUs, like LittleBigPlanet 2, keep their threads moving: the time they spend waiting on each other is down to about a third.
  • Games come out already turned for sideways screens, on handhelds and on phones held in landscape, so Android no longer turns every frame itself. If a picture ever shows up sideways, Fixes > Display Fixes > Disable Swap Chain Pre-Rotation switches it off (in XMB Mode: Settings > Debug Settings).
image
  • Frame generation fills the whole refresh rate on handhelds that hold games to 60 Hz, like the Odin 3: a 60 fps game with x2 now reaches 120 (if your device can push that much).
image image
  • Compiled graphics stay cached when Android closes ARMSX3 in the background, so games stutter less the next time. Done by @k1r4ct.
  • The GPU reads a game's draw commands correctly when it catches up with the game mid-command, a rare case that could put a wrong value into a draw. Done by @digant73.

Savestates

  • Savestates load with every thread intact. Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction keeps its sound and plays on after falling off a level. Done by @k1r4ct.
  • Online games play on after loading a savestate, like LittleBigPlanet 2. Done by @k1r4ct.
  • Savestates of games kept as folders load from the Save Manager, and the games list keeps every game between sessions. Done by @k1r4ct.
  • Slot saves are stored once, and the duplicate copies older versions left behind are cleaned up, freeing gigabytes on some phones.
image

XMB Mode

  • Every game that supports it shows its own background, music and animated icon, including games kept as ISO or CHD with an update installed.

Everything else

  • Changing settings in the middle of a game is safer. Settings a game only reads when it starts are saved, and Apply & Restart in the in-game menu puts them to work.
  • A game whose SPU code goes wrong no longer takes the whole app down. Done by @k1r4ct.
    • Coming back to a game after leaving the app is reliable. Leaving at the wrong moment could rarely make ARMSX3 restart when you returned.
