ARMSX3 1.4
Batman: Arkham Origins online
- Batman: Arkham Origins multiplayer is back online through Arkham: Revived, KiwifruitDev's community servers. ARMSX3 sets the game up for Revived by itself when it boots, in every language, so there's no patch file to copy. You play with other ARMSX3 players over RPCN.
- Quick match and joining a friend's lobby both work.
- Invite your RPCN friends. When a friend invites you, a banner shows who it's from, and you join from the in-game menu in Friends. Friend requests can be accepted in Settings > RPCN or in Friends.
- Leave ARMSX3 mid-lobby and come back to it. The game pauses while you're away, and a "Staying online" notification keeps it connected. If the connection drops, ARMSX3 signs you back in by itself.
- Switching between single-player and multiplayer keeps the game's data installed when you play from an ISO file. The first boot after updating would install it once more.
- Optional patch: Private matches start with fewer players. A private lobby normally needs 3 players before the host can start. With this patch on, the host can start with fewer. Only the host needs it, and public lobbies stay the same. It's off by default, under Patches for Arkham Origins.
What you need to play Arkham Revived
- Batman: Arkham Origins with update 1.06. Get it from PKG/Data Manager > Game updates.
- Settings > RPCN: turn on Internet Connection and set PSN status to RPCN.
- An RPCN account, signed in under Settings > RPCN or RPCN in the library menu. Creating one emails you a code to enter once. You don't need a separate Revived account: Revived knows you by your RPCN name.
- UPnP on, in Settings > RPCN, so other players can connect to you. Close the game and start it again after turning it on. If your router doesn't support UPnP, forward UDP port 3658 to your device.
Good to know: you'll meet RPCN players only. Real PS3s play on PSN and PC plays on Steam, and neither can join RPCN games.
Thanks to @KiwifruitDev for Arkham: Revived.
Toy portals
- Play Skylanders, Disney Infinity and LEGO Dimensions with their figures. Portal in the in-game menu puts your figures on an emulated Skylanders Portal of Power, Disney Infinity base or LEGO Dimensions toy pad.
- Add figure files or create figures. Add figure files brings in figures you already have. Create figure makes a new one by name, except Imaginators Senseis, which need a file of the real toy. There are a lot of figures, so scroll or search, and at the bottom of each list is a page flip, for all 3 game series various figures.
- Several figures at once, like the real toys. The Skylanders portal holds up to 8 figures and magic items, and glows in the color the game gives it. On the Disney Infinity base you choose the play set spot, Player 1 or Player 2, and the power discs under each. The LEGO Dimensions pad has its center pad and three spots on each side.
- Every spot opens a chooser showing what's on it, a way to lift it off, and your other figures. A figure already on another spot moves over. It all works with a controller.
- Portal is in every game's menu. If you don't play these games, turn it off under Settings > Controls > USB Devices > Toy portals.
Microphones
- Sing and talk into your games. SingStar, Rock Band, Guitar Hero and other games hear your microphone, built in or USB. Set it up under Settings > Audio > Microphone.
- Two singers. SingStar mode gives each singer a microphone of their own, Real SingStar takes the SingStar USB adapter with both of its microphones, and Rocksmith takes the Rocksmith guitar cable.
- Automatic uses a USB microphone when one is plugged in, and the built-in one otherwise.
- Test microphone shows a level bar that moves when the microphone hears you, through the same path a game uses.
RPCN and avatars
- Sign in with the password you use in RPCS3. Type it as you know it, you don't need to copy out of RPCS3's files anymore.
- A new RPCN page. Your avatar, name and sign-in status sit at the top, and signing in, creating an account, activating it and resetting a password each take one short step. RPCN also has its own entry in the library menu, under PKG/Data Manager.
- Pick the avatar games show for you. Select your picture on the RPCN page to choose one of the PS3's own icons, import a PSN avatar PKG/.rap, or a picture of your own. The picker has its own music too: "Echoes of the Past" by isaiah658.
- Avatar packs made for the PS3 install, including the big ones with thousands of PSN avatars. Free avatars show up right away, paid ones need their licence. Avatars must be sourced and imported manually.
- Favorites in the avatar picker. Press Y (Triangle) on an avatar, or hold it, to star it, and switch between All and Favorites with LB and RB or touch.
- Friends shows who you are, with your RPCN avatar and name at the top, in the library and in the in-game menu.
Games
- Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure no longer freezes. A bundled patch keeps the game's background work moving, so play carries on after you place a figure (US disc, BLUS30779).
- J-Stars Victory VS+ shows its battles and plays through ultimate and special attacks. ARMSX3 runs it at high shader precision, and a bundled patch keeps its effects running (US disc, BLUS31519).
- Tales of Graces f runs battles at 60 fps with the field at 30, as on the PS3. ARMSX3 turns on a patch for the game and a 60 fps limit by itself.
- Skylanders and other games that reach for PSN play offline when PSN status is set to Simulated. Was causing game hangs.
- When a game stops on an error, ARMSX3 says why on screen, and what to change when there's something to change, like the PSN status for a game that needs RPCN.
- Fixed a bug where saving would rarely not work with a data folder in internal storage. Games save and carry on instead of waiting on the save screen, and a save left unfinished is completed the next time ARMSX3 starts.
- Support for custom installer packages made for a real PS3 install, the kind mod and avatar packs use to place files across the PS3's hard drive. They can't write anywhere outside it.
Settings and controls
- Settings you change from the in-game menu are saved for that game, and only those. Changes you make in the main Settings while a game is running still reach that game.
- The selection highlight only shows while you use a controller, so it stays out of the way when you use touch.
From upstream RPCS3
- @FlexBy420: PS3 avatar support, which the avatar picker is built on.
- @RipleyTom: more accurate player-to-player connections for online games.
- @acts-1631: a limit on how much another player can send to your connection.
- @izcarti: games see your real network and router address, which helps UPnP in some games.
- @Whatcookie: code a patch adds to a game runs compiled, like the rest of the game.
- @elad335: reworked MFC command shuffling for the games that use it, and sturdier memory mapping.
- @digant73: save lists in newer games are no longer cut short, and ISO paths with repeated slashes work.
- @brian218 and @Cri4Key: games built as debug SELFs load.
- @AniLeo: build fixes.
The PlayStore build may take additional time to be approved this time around, as new permissions need to be approved for microphone support and RPCN persistent connection.
