Remote play

  • Play a friend's game as player 2. Their game streams to your device and you play with your own controller or the touch controls. Only the stream runs on your side, so you don't need the game.
image
  • On the same Wi-Fi or online. On the same Wi-Fi, friends hosting a game show up by themselves. Online, the host gets a six-character code to send you. If the code service can't be reached, you and your friend can send each other invite messages to paste instead.
image image image
  • To host: start a game, open the in-game menu, tap Friends, then Host on this Wi-Fi or Invite online. To join: open Remote play from the game library menu.
image
  • The host lets each friend in. When someone connects, the game pauses and the host accepts or declines them. Nothing streams until they say yes.

  • Direct connection. The stream goes straight between the two devices, with no server in between, so how well it plays depends on both connections and how far apart you are. Online, the host's router is asked to open a port for the session when it supports that, which helps friends on networks that block incoming connections.
image
  • Player 2 feels the game's rumble, and the host sees a message when a friend joins or leaves.
  • For the player joining: an exit button, your touch controls with your own layout and skin, stream stats, and a Wi-Fi QoS marking option to try on networks that sort traffic.

  • Hosting needs the Vulkan renderer. Both devices need ARMSX3 1.2. Remote play will only work if both host and client are on the same version of ARMSX3.
  • On Android 17, remote play on the same Wi-Fi asks for the Nearby devices permission.

This feature will also be present in the next ARMSX2 nightly! (On ARMSX2, hosting works on both OpenGL and Vulkan).

Fixes

  • LittleBigPlanet no longer freezes at the water wheel in the first level on Adreno 830 devices (Snapdragon 8 Elite).

Translations

-Cleaned up translation mistakes across all 19 languages, including the labels on buttons and menus.

Note

  • The app is around 10 MB bigger because of the streaming library remote play uses.
  • About now has an Open-source licenses page listing every library inside ARMSX3 with its license. (In the next ARMSX2 nightly as well).
