ARMSX3 1.1.3
What's new:
Controller
- Left stick: a full push up or left now reaches the end of the stick's range, like a real PS3 controller. It stopped one step short, so some games walked instead of running when you pushed straight up or left, GOW3, Uncharted 2, 3, and Last of Us among them. Pushes a few degrees off straight also keep their full strength now.
- D-pad as left stick now pushes the stick all the way instead of 90%. Letting go of the D-pad, or of a button mapped to a stick direction, no longer cancels the stick while you're still holding it that way.
- Rumble: controllers no longer buzz for the whole session in games that keep the motor on a very low setting to hold it still, such as Ragnarok Odyssey ACE. Fixed by @mariobob.
From upstream RPCS3
- Graphics fixes. Armored Core V no longer loses geometry during the lock-on animation, and Resistance 3's flickering light is gone. Depth buffers now follow tests on real hardware, which may reduce flickering when alpha effects are on screen. Games that use the PS3's hardware mouse cursor now show it. By @kd-11.
- 3D Dot Game Heroes should no longer crash. The fix is a new PPU Event Wake-Up Delay setting, and ARMSX3 turns it on automatically for the game. By @Yahfz.
- New options for games that load too fast. Emulate HDD Read Speed fixes crashes in Armored Core V and Armored Core: Verdict Day (by @Yahfz). Emulate BD-ROM Read Speed fixes blocky videos in the Dragon Ball: Raging Blast games (by @digant73). Both are off by default, you can find them in All Core Settings.
- PKG installs: Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles no longer fails to install at 0%. By @digant73.
- Fewer freezes. Games with custom soundtracks no longer risk freezing when the music stops (by @Megamouse).
- Save states no longer crash in games that keep a deleted or replaced file open. By @seanbrar.
- SPU recompiler: a bug that could give wrong results is fixed, and an optimization pass is back. By @Whatcookie.
- Safety: dozens of memory-safety fixes, and wolfSSL, curl and libpng updated (by @Megamouse). Online (RPCN) data and title IDs are checked more strictly (by @acts-1631).
- Also: a PPU interpreter accuracy fix (by @izcarti), and an option for GPUs without an extended depth range that fixes Destiny's characters there, off by default (by @desire).
Note
- The first boot of each game after updating may take a little longer while its shaders are rebuilt due to upstream changes (PPU cache is unaffected).
- On mobile, RPCS3's new Sonic '06 fix works but still flickered unless you turned on SPU MMIO Delay Enabled, which halved the framerate on an 8 Elite, from 60fps to 30, so I kept the patch ARMSX3 already uses for the US version with update 1.01 instead, which already runs the game well on devices like the Retroid Pocket 5 (SD865) and up.
