ARMSX3 1.1.2
Games
- Grand Theft Auto IV: no longer falls through the world on SPU XFloat Accuracy: Approximate, so the game now uses the faster Approximate by default (less CPU usage). The fix is a built-in patch, on automatically for BLUS30682 v1.02 (Complete Edition, both episodes included) and BLUS30127 / NPUB30702 v1.08. Older versions without the update may still need Accurate (and the base 1.0 version doesn't even work on RPCS3).
- Grand Theft Auto IV: the grey see-through rectangle graphical bug in daytime is gone. Other games that left stale blocks on screen the same way get the fix too.
I would consider GTA IV playable on 8 Elite and higher devices after this update, before it was virtually unplayable. Now it performs like a real PS3 did, frame drops and all! ;) (Is there better ways to try playing GTA 4 on Android? Probably, but I don't care, getting the PS3 version working better was the goal).
Performance
- Games that use Multithreaded RSX no longer stall waiting on its helper thread. The RPCS3 database turns it on for about 170 games. Grand Theft Auto IV went from 16-18 fps to 25-30 on an Odin 3.
Patches
- Built-in patches that cover several versions of a game now turn on for all of them. Only the last version listed got its fix, so Splatterhouse's US release, Killzone 3's European release and several Ratchet & Clank versions went without.
Controller
- The D-pad stays inside an open prompt instead of moving to the setting behind it while navigating settings.
For developers
- Replay RSX captures on the device: Settings -> Advanced -> Developer tools, Replay a capture plays back a frame recorded with Capture RSX frame. Captures from other devices work too: put the .rrc.gz file in config/captures. Replays needed a memory fix from upstream RPCS3, by @elad335.
- Dump this frame: a new button in the in-game menu, under Capture RSX frame, saves the next frame as pictures in config/captures: the finished image, or every render pass along the way. Choose which in Settings, Advanced, Developer tools.
- Capture RSX frame no longer leaves the game paused. The game keeps running, and a message says where the capture was saved.
