Test build. Stable stays beta_65.

Flash it at flasher.wadamesh.com (switch the toggle to Beta), or update on the device if you have "Get test builds (beta)" turned on.

Half of this drop is @oumike's again, gathered into one reviewable PR (#523), and most of the rest came out of reports from @PD0RCM, @jesshampshire, @Steve8677 and @Buko84. Thanks also to @comraderachel, @B0N3-GD and @wpawelczyk-wq, whose reports drove the PR.

Bluetooth keyboards, on every board with Bluetooth

Bluetooth now serves either the phone app or a keyboard, and Settings, Bluetooth is where you choose. Pairing lists the keyboards that are in pairing mode and pairs with a code or without one; the keyboard you paired reconnects by itself after that.

  • Keys are read from the keyboard's own report map, the way a phone or a computer reads them, so media keys and touchpads are left alone and the boot protocol is only a fallback.
  • Layouts: US, UK, German, French and Belgian, including AltGr and the dead keys for accents.
  • Touchscreen boards keep the on-screen keyboard down while a keyboard is connected, and a second tap on a field brings it up anyway.
  • The whole interface works from the keyboard: arrows, Tab, Enter and Page Up/Down drive the highlight, and the letter hotkeys over the tab bar switch pages.
  • Esc is the back button, and for keyboards whose Esc key types a character instead, the Back key setting captures whichever key you press and uses that.
  • Command tapped on its own opens the emoji picker while you are writing, and the status bar shows a keyboard instead of the Bluetooth glyph while one is connected.

Not on the Tanmatsu or the T-Display P4, which have no Bluetooth of their own. Both ESP32-P4 targets still build and ship as usual.

From @oumike's PR #523

  • T-Lora Pager: the microSD card mounts again after the card has been read on a computer, and powering off unmounts and powers it down. Reported by @comraderachel (#522).
  • At a glance: emoji render as emoji instead of squares. Reported by @B0N3-GD (#521).
  • Transfer page: upload a folder of offline OSM tiles straight to the SD card, with strict path checks and resumable, atomic writes. Requested by @wpawelczyk-wq (#515).
  • LilyGo T-Deck Pro: touch releases are debounced, holding a chat row is timed in hardware, and typing a space no longer starts the screen lock.
  • Heltec V4 with the original Expansion Kit: the IO button goes back on a tap and home on a hold, larger keys with a magnified preview, and bigger status-bar targets. Reported by @jesshampshire (#525).

Fixes for everyone

  • The web interface can unlock the screen again. A locked screen absorbs every tap on purpose, and unlocking on the device means holding the trackball or the button, so a browser had no way back from a screen it had locked itself. The page now shows an Unlock button whenever the device is locked. Reported by @PD0RCM (#506).
  • Console mode can be left without typing: hold a finger on the screen for three seconds. It also applies the "Older keyboard protocol" setting now, which it was ignoring, so a T-Deck that needs that setting no longer types garbage in the console with no way out. A touch wakes a dark console screen again as well, on the boards that have no keyboard. Reported by @jesshampshire (#507).
  • Pasting a key takes the key out of the message: the channel-secret and public-key fields lift a 32 or 64 hex digit key out of whatever you copied instead of filling up with the words around it. Reported by @Steve8677 (#526).
  • ThinkNode M9 shows a waiting firmware update in its own notice row, next to the message and contact notices. That board never had an update signal at all. Requested by @Buko84 (#443). The Settings tile in the app drawer carries the same mark on every board.

For testers

Bluetooth keyboards are new on every board. Worth reporting: which keyboard you used, whether it paired with a code or without one, whether Esc acts as back, and whether typing survives the keyboard sleeping and coming back.
