wadamesh beta_100

pre-release7 hours ago

Test build, on top of beta_99. Stable stays beta_85.

Flash it at wadamesh.com (switch the toggle to Beta), or update on the device if you have "Get test builds (beta)" turned on.

Another big community round. @MrYoshii brought the T-LoRa Pager's own hardware to life (vibration, charger and fuel gauge, real power-off, the motion sensor, a lock-screen wallpaper), @kremers added map archives on the SD card, @oumike sent another stack of fixes and features, and @ItsNix, @SebRut and @JackCortines added vibration on the T-Display P4, a Wardrive update and a Space Invaders fix. Thank you all.

New

  • Maps from one file. Put a raster PMTiles archive in /maps on the SD card and pick it under Map options. Vector and JPEG archives are refused with the reason in the picker, and "Zoom: map levels only" keeps the map inside the levels the file has (#759 by @kremers).
  • Contacts can delete themselves when not heard from in a chosen number of days (Settings, Contact Management, off by default). Favourites and the chat that is open are never deleted, and nothing goes while the clock is not set (#731 by @oumike, #719).
  • Rooms filter in Contacts (#740 by @oumike).
  • Backups listed by date, or "Default", instead of the file name (#741 by @oumike); on the P4 boards the date follows your time zone after a Wi-Fi sync (#756 by @oumike).
  • GPS speed: Auto. The T-Deck and the ThinkNode M9 find their GPS's serial speed by themselves; a speed you pick in Settings, GPS is used as it is.
  • Screensaver: "Keep north up" stops the slow turn of the picture (#706, asked for by @i-TomCZ).
  • Lua apps: wada.ui.input takes an optional 4th argument, the longest text it accepts (up to 2000 characters), and caps().input_len says the device has it.
  • Polish is new in the Store's languages, translated by tom73god.

Fixes

  • Repeater admin: status, neighbours and access list stayed empty after a telemetry poll or a Home sensor widget asked a node that never answered: that request held the device's single request slot until a reboot. It now lets go after 45 seconds.
  • Updating from the device resumes a dropped download where it stopped, up to 3 times, instead of failing with "short read" (#689, reported by @Hixsten).
  • Import backup showed an empty page with two or more backups, and the time zone and Wi-Fi scan pages could open blank: the page was measured before it was laid out (#738 by @oumike; #757, #760, reported by @Ender436 and @Kb1hux).
  • Wi-Fi after a lost link: the retry no longer races the Wi-Fi chip's own reconnect or clears the saved network, slows down after a minute, and waking the screen tries once at once (#685, reported by @william-stearns and @stephen-62). Wi-Fi switched on from the Home widget or the control center joins straight away.
  • Time zone: Settings, Clock & time keeps the "By hand" field in the zone you just picked, and the CrowPanel P4 10.1 no longer resets the zone to UTC on a Wi-Fi time sync (#699, reported by @zomgugoff).
  • Avatars never go blank: a name starting with a flag or joined emoji took an invisible character as its icon, and Initials now take whole letters (#674, reported by @neoemit).
  • T-Deck keyboards: an older keyboard that typed a burst like "QERUOXV$ ZNMFJ" for one Q is recognised and remembered; with Italian, Spanish or Romanian selected, Sym+W/E/R type 1 2 3 again (#747, reported by @QuakeRadio).
  • Save update bin to SD downloads first and then writes, retrying the whole file (#734, reported by @Jess-39).
  • A wallpaper in internal /lock/ survives a reboot: the start-up cleanup of old map tiles deleted every picture on internal storage.
  • Lua: wada.ui.input returns the text on Enter, also from an external keyboard on a touch board (the second Enter used to land on Cancel); wada.sys.random(n) gives 1 to n, random(1, 1) gives 1, and a random over the full number range no longer restarts the device.
  • A settings slot file on SD that will not take a write is recreated (#744 by @oumike, #743), and a restore that cannot save says so instead of restarting into an empty store (#708, reported by @zomgugoff, built on #709 by @oumike).

Boards

  • T-LoRa Pager (#748 to #752 by @MrYoshii): vibration for messages with patterns and strength; the charger and fuel gauge with real charge, current and time to full or empty, battery care, a temperature guard and a safe switch-off at 3%; a real power-off (ship mode) when not on USB, woken by the power key or USB; face down for quiet and an opt-in pick-up wake from the motion sensor, which Lua apps can read; a lock-screen wallpaper.
  • ThinkNode M9: a slow key press that flickers on release types one letter, not two (#671, reported by @neoemit).
  • T-Display P4: vibrates on new messages with the AW86224 motor, off by default and quiet under Do Not Disturb (#730 by @ItsNix); with the keyboard attached the battery percentage comes from the voltage (#722 by @oumike); an SD card left in SPI mode by Launcher is power-cycled and mounted again (#708).
  • T-Deck Pro: Settings, the header and the lock screen fit the 240 px e-paper panel (#742 by @oumike).
  • SenseCAP Indicator: the map says the board has no map storage instead of asking to reflash a partition it does not have (#692, reported by @skykingisepic).

Apps (in the Store now)

  • Space Invaders 1.1 no longer crashes with a few aliens left (#729 by @JackCortines). Wardrive 1.3: the start and stop button names what the next press does (#735 by @SebRut).

Also

  • WADAMESH-TAK, the Cascadia Mesh build on top of WADAMESH for teams in the field (MediaMesh photos and voice, Team, one-time pads, detection tools), now has its own section on wadamesh.com.
