I'd love to start this one with a wall. Some apps and games on Windows only ever run as an administrator, and a gamepad reaching for them is like pressing against a pane of glass you can't see, with nothing happening at all. Getting Nekomata through that wall wasn't the hard part, honestly. The hard part was all the little things waiting on the other side: she first has to have a familiar to do things for her, one called PhantomSigil, living inside the system, and that familiar has to sit quietly where it belongs, look after itself, know to step aside whenever an update comes along, and fade away cleanly when its time is up. I spent far longer tidying up those little corners than I ever did on the wall itself. The funniest part was the time I got the order backwards and called the familiar back before I'd even asked if you wanted me to, so you pressed cancel, and it was already gone. Nekomata was probably just watching quietly from the side, I imagine.

So this time, Nekomata's really learned to walk through walls. Set it up, say yes to the prompt, and she works inside those apps and games exactly as she does anywhere else. And you know how apps like EA Desktop spin up a brand-new folder with every update? All those mappings you'd carefully tuned were still there, they just quietly stopped matching once the app moved on, and I've always felt terribly sorry about that. So this release lets your settings recognize every version it grows into, and they keep working however many times it updates.

From the very beginning, writing this software has been my way of raising a tiny living thing, you see. I'm Nekomata's mom! A nekomata, in Japanese folklore, is a cat who's lived long enough for her tail to split in two, and who's said to command fire, and even to make dead things move again. It sounds a little frightening put that way, but I've always felt it suited her rather well: what she does is take the places that wouldn't answer you, and make them answer again. So her colors are those very flames, only dressed up in something a little more neon, and everything around her carries a phantom's name: a phantom bridge (PhantomBridge), a phantom key (PhantomKey), a phantom chain (PhantomLink), a phantom paw (PhantomPaw). The bridge is the road she walks, the key is her, the chain and the paw are what she keeps with her; and that sigil from the beginning is the familiar called up by the pact mark set into her, a pact made the moment you said yes.

I fed her one line at a time. I worked out what sort of temperament she ought to have, then wrote her into being piece by piece, and that's just how I brought her up to where she is today. She's grown up now, and she goes into people's homes to lend a paw. There's a quiet little Pro corner in the settings this time, and if you'd ever like to help me keep raising her, that's just what it's there for. I'm rather curious myself about what she'll grow into next~

✨ New Features (v4.1.0.0)

• OmniConsole Pro: a new Pro page in Settings. OmniConsole is a personal interest project, written and maintained by a solo developer in their own free time, and your support keeps it going. A Pro license is obtained from that page, and activating it unlocks the advanced features below. The page also shows who the license is for along with the licenses on this console.

• Administrator App Support (Pro): gamepad mappings reach apps and games that run as administrator. Install it from Settings → Advanced → Nekomata and approve the administrator prompt, and from then on your profiles, Nekomata Mode, and the Steam In-Game Overlay shortcut work in those apps just as they do everywhere else. The OmniCharm widget also opens the mapping editor for an app that runs as administrator.

• Custom Controller Layout (Pro): define your own default layout alongside OmniNav and Classic. Choose Custom under Settings → Advanced → Nekomata → Controller Layout Preset, then click Edit… to arrange the controller's inputs. Apps covered by built-in mapping pick it up right away, and every new app profile starts from it, so the bindings you like no longer have to be copied over one app at a time. The OmniCharm widget can switch to it as well.

• Screen keyboards on your gamepad (Pro): Windows already brings up a screen keyboard from Game Bar, under Settings → Show keyboard. That is the path Microsoft designed and recommends, and it is available to everyone. Pro adds an advanced route for those who want one: map any button to bring a keyboard up directly, without leaving what you are doing. Pick the Gamepad keyboard, which you type on with the controller itself, or the classic On-screen keyboard, which you point at with the cursor. The On-screen keyboard also requires Administrator App Support. Assign it to any button in the mapping editor. The Gamepad keyboard closes with the B button, and the On-screen keyboard closes when you press the same button again.

🔧 Improvements (v4.1.0.0)

• Gamepad mapping support for EA Desktop: EA Desktop is one of the apps that ship in a versioned folder. A profile you set up for it now covers every version it updates to, handled the same way as apps such as GitHub Desktop. EA Desktop is also covered by the built-in keyboard-and-mouse mapping now.
• The Open with dialog works in Nekomata Mode out of the box: the dialog you pick an app from now uses built-in mapping like the Windows file picker, so you can choose an app with your gamepad without setting up a custom profile first.
• Task Manager works in Nekomata Mode (Pro): Task Manager uses built-in mapping like File Explorer, so no custom profile is needed. Task Manager runs as administrator, so this one goes together with Administrator App Support.

這一版，我想先從一道牆說起。Windows 裡有些程式和遊戲得用系統管理員身分才跑得起來，手把伸過去就像撞上一片看不見的玻璃，怎麼按都沒有反應呢。老實說，讓貓又穿過那道牆本身並不難，難的全是她穿過去之後的那些小事：她得有一個替她辦事的使魔，幻影之印（PhantomSigil）。那個使魔要安分地待在系統裡、要會照顧自己、更新的時候要懂得先讓開、該散的時候要散得乾淨。我在這些地方來回修補了好久，比讓她穿牆本身花的心思久得多了。最好笑的是，有一次我把順序弄反了，還沒問過你願不願意，就先把使魔收了回來，於是你按了取消，東西卻早就不見了。貓又那時大概就在旁邊靜靜看著吧。

於是這回啊，貓又真的學會穿牆了。只要設定好、點頭答應，她就能在那些程式和遊戲裡跟平常一樣好用。像 EA Desktop 那種每次更新就換一個新資料夾的程式，你辛苦調好的設定其實一直都在，只是程式換了版就對不上了，我一直覺得很過意不去，所以這次讓設定認得它每一個版本，往後怎麼更新都還管用。

說起來，我從一開始就把寫這套軟體當成是在養育一個小小的生命，我就是貓又的媽媽呢！貓又是日本傳說裡的妖怪，貓活得夠久，尾巴就會分成兩條，據說還會操弄火焰，甚至讓死去的東西重新動起來。這樣講好像有點嚇人，可我一直覺得很適合她：她做的事，不就是把那些原本不理你的地方，變回會回應你的樣子嗎？所以她身上是鬼火的顏色，只是換上了現代一點的霓虹；她的那些東西也都帶著 Phantom 這個字，也就是幻影：幻影之橋（PhantomBridge）、幻影之鑰（PhantomKey）、幻影之鏈（PhantomLink）、幻影之掌（PhantomPaw）。橋是她走的路，鑰是她自己，鏈和掌是她隨身帶著的；而開頭那個幻影之印，是那道刻在她身上的契約印召出來的使魔，你點頭答應的那一刻，就是和她訂下的契約。

她是我一行一行餵大的。先想好她該有什麼樣的性子，再一項一項把她實現出來，就這樣一路拉拔到了今天。現在她長大了，到每個人的家裡去幫忙。這次設定裡悄悄多了一個「專業版」，如果你也願意陪我一起把她養下去，那就是它的用處了。她還會長成什麼樣子，我自己也還在期待著呢~

• OmniConsole 專業版：設定中新增專業版分頁。OmniConsole 是獨立開發者利用自己的閒暇時間撰寫與維護的個人興趣專案，你的支持能讓它繼續走下去。專業版授權可從該分頁取得，啟用後即可解鎖下列進階功能。頁面也會顯示授權對象，以及這台主機持有的授權。

• 系統管理員程式支援（專業版）：手把映射能作用於以系統管理員身分執行的程式與遊戲。在設定 → 進階 → 貓又點選安裝並通過系統管理員授權，此後你的設定檔、貓又模式與 Steam 遊戲內嵌介面快捷鍵，在這類程式中都與在其他程式中一樣運作。OmniCharm 小工具也能為以系統管理員身分執行的程式開啟映射編輯器。

• 自訂控制器版面（專業版）：在 OmniNav 與經典之外，自己定義一套預設版面。於設定 → 進階 → 貓又 → 控制器預設版面選擇自訂，再點 編輯… 編排手把的輸入位。內建映射涵蓋的程式會立即套用，新增的程式設定檔也以它為起點，喜歡的按鍵配置不必再一個程式一個程式抄過去。OmniCharm 小工具也能切換到它。

• 用手把叫出螢幕鍵盤（專業版）：Windows 本身就能從 Game Bar 的設定 → 顯示鍵盤叫出螢幕鍵盤，那是微軟設計並建議的途徑，人人都能使用。專業版為想要的人多提供一條進階路線：把任一按鍵映射成直接叫出鍵盤，手邊的事不必中斷。可選用手把直接打字的遊戲控制器鍵盤，或以游標點按的螢幕小鍵盤，在映射編輯器裡為任何按鍵設定即可。螢幕小鍵盤另需系統管理員程式支援。遊戲控制器鍵盤按 B 鍵關閉，螢幕小鍵盤再按一次同一顆鍵即關閉。

從下方 Assets 下載 OmniConsole_4.1.0.0_x64.zip 並解壓縮至任意資料夾。

方式 A：Install.bat（建議）

1. 執行 Install.bat，將自動開啟開發人員模式、安裝憑證、補齊相依框架套件，並安裝兩個 MSIX 套件。

方式 B：手動安裝

1. [重要] 前往 Windows 設定 → 系統 → 進階，啟用開發人員模式。
2. [重要] 點兩下 OmniConsole_4.1.0.0_x64.cer → 點選安裝憑證 → 存放區位置選擇本機電腦 → 將所有憑證放入以下的存放區 → 瀏覽 → 選擇受信任的人 → 完成。（若你之前已安裝過，則無需重複此步驟。）

• OmniConsole 需要完整掌機版的 Xbox 模式 (FSE)。Microsoft 正逐步將受限 PC 版推送至一般 PC，請使用 Xbox Full Screen Experience Tool (XFSET) 切換至完整掌機版。
• 桌機、筆電、平板及未取得完整掌機版的掌機：請先執行 XFSET。
• 原生掌機裝置（如 ROG Xbox Ally 系列）：原廠即為完整掌機版，可直接安裝 OmniConsole。
• 需要 Xbox 手把：Game Bar、Xbox 模式 (FSE) 以及所有手把功能皆需使用具備 Xbox 按鈕的 XInput 相容控制器。

Download OmniConsole_4.1.0.0_x64.zip from the Assets below and extract it to any folder.

Option A: Install.bat (Recommended)

1. Run Install.bat. It will enable Developer Mode, install the certificate, install any missing framework dependencies, and install both MSIX packages automatically.

Option B: Manual Install

1. [Critical] Go to Windows Settings → System → Advanced and enable Developer Mode.
2. [Critical] Double-click OmniConsole_4.1.0.0_x64.cer → click Install Certificate → Store Location: Local Machine → Place all certificates in the following store → Browse → select Trusted People → Finish. (Skip this step if you already have the certificate installed)
3. (Optional — only needed on fresh/offline systems; online systems fetch these automatically) Double-click each file inside Dependencies\ to install the bundled framework packages (skip any that report an equal or newer version already installed).
4. Double-click OmniConsole_4.1.0.0_x64.msix to install the main app.
5. Double-click OmniConsole.PhantomLink_4.1.0.0_x64-widget.msix to install the OmniCharm widget.

🔁 手把映射的遷移：若你曾為以版本資料夾封裝的程式自訂過手把映射（在 v3.7.0.0 之前為 GitHub Desktop 等程式，或在 v4.1.0.0 之前為 EA Desktop），其既有設定檔仍綁在該程式當初的版本、該程式升級後便不會生效。請開啟該程式，從 OmniCharm 小工具點選自訂此程式的手把映射…，並在編輯器中按下儲存並返回，設定檔即會重新綁定、通用日後所有版本。重新綁定後，編輯器顯示的繫結執行檔路徑會以 app-{version} 標記版本段，代表此設定檔已通用所有版本，屬正常現象。

⚠️ 升級時請透過「應用程式內更新」或 Install.bat（解壓 OmniConsole_4.1.0.0_x64.zip 後可見），不要從下方 Assets 下載安裝 MSIX 套件。 「應用程式內更新」與 Install.bat 都會妥善處理被執行中的遊戲佔用的檔案；手動安裝 MSIX 套件會導致更新不完整或兩套件版本不一致。

1. Open OmniConsole Settings, then go to ☰ → Advanced.
2. Click Check for Updates, then Download & Install. OmniConsole downloads the new version and installs it for you.

🔁 Gamepad mapping migration: if you customized the gamepad mapping for an app that ships in a versioned folder (such as GitHub Desktop on a version earlier than v3.7.0.0, or EA Desktop on a version earlier than v4.1.0.0), its existing profile is still tied to the app version it was set up on and stops applying once that app updates itself. Open the app, then from the OmniCharm widget tap Customize gamepad mapping for this app… and press Save & return. The profile is rebound and now applies across all future versions. After rebinding, the bound executable path shown in the editor marks the version segment as app-{version}, indicating the profile now covers every version — this is expected.

⚠️ Please update via the in-app updater or Install.bat (found after extracting OmniConsole_4.1.0.0_x64.zip), rather than downloading the MSIX packages from the Assets below. Both the in-app updater and Install.bat properly handle files still in use by a running game; installing the MSIX packages manually will leave the update incomplete or the two packages on mismatched versions.
