2025 Update & Recap

One year ago, we migrated everyone to a new continuous delivery workflow.
It made it easier for us to ship bug fixes, performance improvements, and new game support.

Many of these changes rolled out quietly throughout the year, and if you chose to defer updates indefinitely, here's what you missed:

All of these are the result of contributors dedicating their expertise, time, and effort outside of any full-time work.
And today, to close out the year, we’re releasing a new update that significantly improves how you explore games.

Newly added

  • A redesigned explorer that organizes packages in a grid, automatically detects types, and provides quick previews when available. This new system complements the old explorer; you can disable it if you like, but once you get the hang of it, it’s hard to go back
  • Filter packages by type within a folder (Mesh, Texture, Data, Blueprints, etc)
  • New context menu option to find all references of a package (UE5+)

Bug Fixes and Improvements

  • With automatic type detection, context menu options unrelated to a package’s type are now disabled
  • Reduced memory usage during package deserialization
  • Faster archive load times

To get the latest version of FModel and experience these improvements, download the update from here https://fmodel.app/download or check for updates within the application (Help > Releases).

Exciting things are already cooking for 2026, and we can’t wait to share them with y’all!
As always, thank you to everyone pushing FModel and CUE4Parse forward through contributions, donations, compatibility threads, or simply by using these projects. ❤️
Happy holidays! 🎄
