Built on Frigate v0.17.2
What's Changed
-
Improve CoreML Object Detector inference speed on Apple Neural Engine
- This optimization will improve object detection speed for all users, but will be most noticeable on machines with low camera counts, low motion activity, or Macs that have little else running and are near idle. For why this is the case, see the documentation here.
-
Reduce "Detector CPU Usage"
-
On startup, offer to repair database media paths for users migrating from Frigate in Docker or another Fregata install
- Frigate never checks to see if recordings exist on disk, for each recording it simply saves the recording file path in the database. This means if you migrate from Frigate to Fregata, or move Fregata to a new Mac, the paths saved in your database will likely be wrong and Frigate does not know where to find these recording files. This startup check fixes that to make migrations easier. And can also be triggered manually via
Fregata Menu > Settings > Troubleshooting > Repair Media Paths. Documentation here.

Add
Fregata Menu > Settings > Troubleshooting > Create Diagnostic Bundle- This feature allows for you to quickly create a zipped bundle of your Fregata configuration, logs, and other diagnostic data to help in the troubleshooting of bugs or support requests. This bundle is then uploaded to a secure private repository ONLY accessible by Fregata developers. You are given a bundle ID that is safe to share publicly to copy and paste into your GitHub issue/discussion or share via email. All diagnostic bundles are deleted once your issue has been resolved and nothing in the bundle includes any recorded video, images, or remote access to your Fregata install in any way. Documentation here. -
Clean up AppleDouble sidecar files (commonly created on NFS & SMB shares) when associated recordings are deleted
-
Disable Frigate's built-in update check, as Frigate can only be updated when Fregata is updated
-
Further guards to prevent 2 instances of Fregata running at once on the same Mac
-
Enable
drawtextin ffmpeg. Fixes #37 -
Properly log when a go2rtc exec stream is bad. Fixes #38
Coming Soon - Frigate v0.18-beta1
-
Frigate recently released the first Beta for the massive upcoming v0.18 release and we've been hard at work integrating the changes ever since. We're nearing release of our own v0.18-beta1.
-
⚠️ Beta releases are, well, betas. Issues and bugs have already been reported for Frigate's v0.18-beta1. Many things have changed, and not everything works. There is an additional risk that the new code was not merged perfectly and could cause Fregata-specific bugs. Betas are recommended for technical users that can spot bugs and report them.
-
Fregata's update checker will not notify you of Beta releases, by design. If you are interested in running the Betas, keep an eye on this Releases page or enable notifications by clicking "Watch > Custom > Releases" on this repository to get an immediate email notification from GitHub when new releases are published.
