0.45.0: Topology rework (#147, #115)

Layout

  • Subtrees pack into width-bounded, balanced rows instead of one row per
    level; leaf sets form compact grids; components and loose devices pack
    the same way (58 switches x2 devices: 116 slots -> <=24)
  • Positions arranged by hand are saved and shared; nothing moves on new
    links, nodes or refreshes, and the view isn't refitted. New things are
    placed next to what they connect to. Reset layout returns to automatic
  • Links run card edge to card edge and follow the cards; clicking a link
    pins either end to a side (orthogonal routing). Stable link ids so pins
    survive discovery rewriting its rows
  • Hover lights up a device's links; double-click opens its page

Spanning tree

  • Root chosen by other bridges' votes (an AP claiming root no longer wins)
  • A cable keeps the more telling STP role of its two ends, so blocked
    redundant cables show (red, dashed, their own line)
  • A section whose root is outside the fleet says so

Client devices

  • Show clients: count chips under each switch/AP, expandable; attached to
    the AP or access port, or behind an unmanaged neighbour, not the router

Your own nodes and hand-drawn links

  • Add node: ISP modem/ONT, internet, other-vendor router/firewall/AP,
    unmanaged switch, server, NAS, printer, camera, phone system, computer
  • Hand-drawn links between any devices, nodes and discovered neighbours;
    working remove (x, link menu, list under the map); old manual links
    migrated into topology_hand_links
  • Shared-segment nodes removed: broadcast neighbours aren't cabling
