FM4 v0.3.10 - Native PC Port (Windows x64)
Changes since v0.3.9
Graphics and performance
- Updated the Vulkan renderer to a newer ShiftGlue SDK revision (the one fm4-static-recomp uses), now built reproducibly from source.
- Renderer settings now follow values verified for FM4 on this SDK:
- Shaders compile before they are drawn, so the road no longer appears dark or grey for several seconds.
- Less CPU work per frame.
- A smaller texture memory budget.
- NVIDIA DLSS (RTX GPUs), AMD FSR 3 and FSR 2 under Output scaling. They upscale from the render scale to your screen with the game's depth and motion, keep the HUD sharp on top, and turn MSAA off in races because they smooth edges themselves. On a 1440p screen, 1x upscales 2x and 2x works as anti-aliasing only (like DLAA). DLSS has a preset choice.
- New Race detail settings in the Graphics tab, applied when you press Play:
- Car detail: Console, High or Ultra.
- Reflection updates: Console, Every race or Double.
- Full-rate mirror with up to 16 cars, full-rate bloom, soft particles, cone and barrier shadows, and crowds in every race.
- An experimental option to turn exterior car shadows back on.
Frame rate and pacing
- Fixed menus and car presentations running at double speed.
- In 120 FPS mode, the menus and the showroom camera move at their real speed.
- Frames are paced by a single clock. A second limiter could repeat or drop a frame every few seconds.
- The launcher now explains that VSync disables G-Sync/FreeSync. With a variable refresh rate display, turn VSync off.
Racing wheels, telemetry and camera (Ross Carlson, pull requests #21 and #23)
- Bind steering, pedals, buttons and an optional H-shifter from any USB devices, with a live view of their input.
- Force feedback tuning and wheel rotation settings.
- SimHub telemetry over UDP.
- Live camera adjustment: field of view and seat position for each camera view, from the keyboard or wheel buttons.
- Wide screens (21:9, 32:9) with Fill Window, Black bars or Stretch. The HUD keeps its proportions in the middle (Standard), or its outer elements move to the window's edges (Edges): position, laps, speedometer and minimap.
Launcher
- Additional content in the Install tab:
- Lists the installed Disc 2 packs and DLC with their names and sizes, and removes any of them.
- Adds DLC from a folder (for example a 4D530910 folder copied from a console) or from package files.
- Avatar items and other games' content are skipped.
- Portuguese is available as a game language (issue #28).
- The window can be resized and never opens larger than the screen (issue #29).
- New icon for the game and the launcher. The windows are titled "Forza Motorsport 4" and "Forza Motorsport 4 Launcher".
Fixes
- Includes the module-reload fix for the crash when leaving a circuit, which the v0.3.9 build lacked.
